Watching “Secrets of the Workhouse” on ITV3. It’s very interesting and appalling to learn how people were treated simply because they were poor. Can’t help thinking it’s a very dangerous programme to air in coalition Britain though. Given their dubious so called “social reforms” I wouldn’t put it past them to try and resurrect workhouses. The attitudes depicted in the programme are a reflection of their thinking. Actor Brian Cox is very upset about the treatment of his great grandfather.
