Watching a doc on the film " Last Year at Marienbad". Interestingly, the film, which is now considered an avant garde classic, was turned down by the film studio after completion. Director Alain Resnais and writer Alain Robbe-Grillet then began showing it to influential people in the arts, the first of whom was André Breton, who apparently hated it. They then show it to Sartre, Giacometti, Cocteau and Michelangelo Antonioni. Quite a crowd. If it was my film and even just Antonioni liked it, I think I could get over the others hating it.
