Watching a movie called A Sound of Thunder. A company develops a means of time travel. They use this to send rich people on dinosaur hunting safaris. Because changing the past will effect the now they have used archeological digs to map out where dinosaurs have died by means of falling in sand pits, having a volcano erupt on top of them and other nonviolent means. The people go back to right before the dino dies and they kill them with frozen liquid nitrogen bullets which dissipate not leaving any trace. On one safari a guest steps off the path which creates changes in evolution and cause time waves in the now, which is evolution catching up by degrees. Animals take a different evolutionary path, such as this one baboon headed critter with an alligator type body. Plants are different and in short order people will be changed too. The first problem I had with the movie is that this private company develops this technology and uses for such stupid purposes. In the real world once they got close to succeeding the federal government would have stepped in, taken over everything making it all top secret, then used it for it’s own nefarious deeds. They won’t let private interests try developing space flight because they might make a mistake, and the government never screws anything up. Next we have them trying to come up with a solution to fix everything. The idea is to send the party leader back to a few minutes before the party that screwed things up comes out of the gate, stop them, and send them. But this can not be achieved because of the time waves. The things make it impossible to go back that far. So they try figuring out the next step which, for some unexplained reason, is to find the guests and find exactly what happened so the leader can go back and make sure to stop it from happening if another scientists theory about getting past the waves is correct. I am thinking, “Why not just go back two days and stop this team from ever going to begin with, or maybe a few years and stop this machine from being created? That would be doable. And all this was caused because a guy stepped on a butterfly.
