Watching and studying this video was like eating sweet-and-salty-candy-that-helps-you-lose-weight for a cultural studies student! (NOTE: I study Cultural Studies) It is very interesting to see the mass culture of the mass society in the industrialized, technological modern world through this new video one Youtube. This video of the top watched videos, trends and actors on YouTube shows you that this generation is interested in selfies, eye-lash make-up, splashing water around for fun (while millions around the world go without fresh water) and they are obsessed with the world of fantasy. Why may this be the case? Why do people find more enjoyment in the no-hands pull up your pants challenge than learning about history on Imperialism? Why is it that having a loving and spiritual connection with ones friends, family and community is not as important as hours spent on bathroom selfies and nights watching the Television? Well, my suggestion is that people are sick because of their perception that this life is a meaningless cycle the starts with life and ends with death and filled endless with consumerism and labour in between. My suggestion, or my conclusion is that the world has turned very brave recently. Not brave in the sense of sacrifice and selflessness, but instead brave in the sense that mass society has actually dared themselves to live in a world without the benefits of love and spirituality.
