Watching letters to Jackie. How interesting that I was 6 yrs old, same age as Caroline and 50 yrs later I would be living in Dallas Tx. I also got to see Bobby Kennedy right be fore his assianation. He made a brief stop in Portland Oregon in the center of St.Johns by the Bank. My cousin Ben and I were going to the St.Johns theater and saw a crowd gathered. We climbed up the back of the bleachers. A man came over and reached by me to steady Ben so he did not fall. I can still remember the feel of his light weight wool pants as he brushed next to me. He had a white shirt on with the sleeves rolled up. When i looked up i was staring right into Bobby. Kennedys face just making sure 2 kids did not fall while trying to sit and see what was going on. We sat and listened for a little while then got down and ran over to the Movie. I was So excited to tell my family who we saw! That next week Mom had the TV on so we could listen to Bobbys speech in California. It was his last speech he would ever make and my first to witness someone I just saw in person killed. Being in 5th grade it was quite an impact.
