Watching someone taking ten minutes to reverse a small car 35 yards down our lane last night prompted me to wonder just how the driver was a able to negotiate the driving test. It would appear to me that the ability to reverse in a single track road between a hedge and a fence, wthout touching either, at a rate rather faster than 3 yards per minute, could be considered important. In this event, a removals lorry was blocking the lane...perhaps a fire engine on a country lane might have sharpened the drivers skills...but I doubt it. Our neighbours hedge bore the brunt of the drivers efforts...it will be interesting to see if it grows in a serrated line next spring. These are the things I see...
