Watching the pros play 8-ball last night at the US Open 8-Ball on TAR reminded me of the vast difference between the offensive game they play (on a big table on which the balls are spread across the table) and the one amateurs play on a bar box where congestion and defense rule the day. So, while watching the pros, study their patterns and position play as much of what they do can be applied to a smaller table, especially when one player has cleared the way by executing a failed run out.
