Watching these two first time beekeepers introduce their bee packages to their hives was cute. I laughed, but in a warm way. It reminded me of when I first tried my hand at keeping bees. I was so nervous around them. I had nucs to start, and was keenly aware of 20,000 stinging insects in those boxes. I used to go out to the hives decked head-to-toe in a bee suit. But I soon learned the bees had virtually no interest in me or stinging me, unless I was foolish enough to wear black or brown, and within a few weeks was inspecting the hives in nothing more than jeans and a T-shirt.
