Watching this game #DETvsDAL is reminding me both why I dont watch football anymore - and why I miss it. I dont watch it because I find it stressful to really root for a team. When Im in, Im ALL in including happy jigs and barbaric yawps when my team scores and moans of anguish when they fumble. I also dont like a lot of the politics and how commercialism distorts the games at every level. On the other hand, I miss it because a) this was THE sport I used to watch with Yves Gagne b) these contests can be pretty epic c) its inspiring to watch poetry-in-motion on pressure plays, in particular. If my team (the team I grew up watching) had lost this game, Id be grateful to be released from caring for another 8 months. Given that they just won, however - with a pretty great comeback (perhaps helped by some officiating) - I now feel duty-bound to watch another playoff game or two.
