Watching this right now, felt to share because of Novaks assessment of skepticism and how it is a cornerstone, or even foundation of comedy. It is a simple assessment, but one I find resonant, because often I have been accused of being cynical because of the skepticism I express, but Im not. And I feel this perception from others has largely to do with a societal narrative that gets too easily accepted: that cynicism is at the heart of skepticism, when it is really an ability to question, and that questioning coming from healthy curiosity and caring. And the power paradigm that informs society of what is right and wrong, discourages such curiosity and caring. The more one can open to curiosity, the more the absurdities make themselves known, and one can choose to become cynical or see the humor in it, and share about it. I may not always present things in a humorous manner, because I do not want to tell you how to take something, humorous, cynical or otherwise, but I look to relate about the absurdities and offer the potential support of being aware of them.
