Water for life. Suggested reading John 4:7 to 42 John 7 :37,38 37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. Did you know that most of the worlds surface is water ? 71% to be exact. Of the remaining fresh water 1%), most is locked up in ice,the rest is not evenly distributed.Just 1 of our great lakes has more fresh water than some countrys have to meet the needs of there people. There is a comparatively simple process called desalination that remove the salt from sea water making it drinkable. During distilling the water evaporates, leaving salt and other impurities behind.Once cooled, wanted minerals are then added . The result is excellent drinking water. The side benefit is salt, which has many uses, and steam which is used to produce clean inexpensive energy. Talk about a Win / Win !! Todays reading is a well known bible story. Its simple lessons are truly foundational. Its almost the culmination of Jesus lessons to the woman of Samaria at the well in John 4:7 to 42 In John 4:10, Jesus first mentions Living WaterWhile all water sustains life, only Living Water, the water Jesus has to offer will GIVE life.By his Spirit , he pours his life into us,filling us ,empowering us, and sustaining us.We are no more capable of survival in this world then a man in a desert can sustain life with out food and water.Mat. 5:6 reminds us that we are blessed when we desire his righteousness, and presence like a starving man seeks a meal.God calls us to give others Living Water. Were filled, then and only then can we pass it on to a dry world.Just as in the desalination process the byproduct is energy and salt. His Spirit pours on the steam, producing the power to finish the mission of being salt. Mat 5:13 tells us clearly we are salt, the most basic of all the seasoning. It brings out the flavor of our food, just as we, by the Power of His Spirit, bring out the best in others through encouragement and application of the gospel to hearts and lives. Salt is also a preservative. It makes food last by destroying the things that seek to spoil it and corrupt it. In these ways Salt and Living water produce in us and the lives we touch ,the very life of Christ . Are you life giving water ? Are you salt ? Have you offered living water to those dieing in this parched, and dry land ? Why not? Lets pray : Father, I live your Word. I remember stories of wells in dry places ,ones that were filled is by enemies. Lord our enemy the Devil seeks to fill in the fountains of living water in us. The very water we give to others. He wants to fill the wells with business, self pursuits and more. Help us to keep the water flowing,so we can touch hearts and lives. We want to be good servants for you. In Jesus Name, AMEN ! and amen. Given with love by Living Witness Ministries .
