Water heater leaking. Plus side: We were told to get a new one when we bought the house 6 years ago, the sticker on it mentions 1984.....as in....This is how many kilowatts this appliance used in 1984. The warranty on the outside panel says 5 years for the tank, and 2 for parts and labor. The amount of dust on it leads me to believe it was probably put in during the term of Reagan. It only held 52 gallons and shutting it off was pretty easy, so it wont start a fire/explode. Negative side: Its WELDED to the pipes, and it doesnt have quick release connectors on either end of the pipes, so I cant take it out myself. It has a turn knob like a faucet for a garden hose for a shut off (as opposed to a lever which is code since the 90s). It leaked about 52 gallons all over my previously flooded and still kinda nasty floor. Its Friday night, so no matter who does it, they are going to charge weekend rates. No one got to take a shower today.... Consensus.....wake up extra early and go to Home Depot, put it on the HD card and pray they can do the installation today. Wonder how much it will eventually cost me since I dont have a Main line shut off, the hot water fill line is out of code and its weekend. Hopefully this is the third repair that is emergency for the year, so PRAYING its the last one for a while. (Truck brakes, Refrigerator smoking/water pump) FML
