Watercolours are forgiving and can be corrected - let Paul Taggart Artist, Chronicler and Author show you how in this Painting Topical Technique for Watercolours - Lift-Off - one of ten videos in the newly released boxed-set Painting Topical Techniques for Watercolour by Paul Taggart [Series 1] - via #artworkshopwithpaul on #vimeo “How do I correct my mistakes?” is a common cry of despair; some even say that watercolours are unforgiving, which makes this a difficult medium. Paul Taggart’s response to this – “If that was the case I certainly would not use this medium. But it is far from being so and I can show you how the technique of lift-off can change your approach to watercolour painting.” This may appear to be a simple tutorial, but it is one that can have a profound effect; for not only does it demonstrate what is possible by way of correcting mistakes; it also shows how lift-off can be exploited to manipulate already applied paint and just as importantly how this technique can be adapted for the ‘art’ of ‘negative painting’. Watch as Paul Taggart reveals how to exploit the magical nature of negative painting to achieve a simple study of an apple with the minimum of fuss. Follow along and you will also learn how to create volume, depth and reflections whilst using this method of working from dark back through to light – as opposed to the normal method in watercolours, of working from light to dark. I believe that anyone can learn to paint or draw providing they are given as much guidance as possible and shown the techniques with which to develop. My tuition is based on sharing knowledge and passing on techniques without which I would never have been able to develop as a Professional Artist and Author. Let this Artist and Author of fourteen books and Presenter of a growing index of over three hundred tutorial videos show you how to expand your horizons. vimeo/artworkshopwithpaul/liftoffwatercolours
