Waterford LEADER Partnership is inviting tenders from training providers with experience of working with marginalized groups, to develop and deliver the following programmes. To submit queries for clarification please email [email protected] First Steps to Success Training Programme (Personal Development Training Phase One) Aim: The programme is to support participants to build their self confidence, self esteem, improve awareness and identity and to develop talents and potential. Modules: Health and wellbeing (non accredited) Personal effectiveness (non accredited) Group work skills (non accredited) Introduction to computers (FETAC Level 3 Component Certificate) Programme is 8 weeks (1 morning for 3 hours). WLP will provide venue. Quotation to include FETAC certification. Programme will engage with 12 participants. Second Steps to Success Training Programme (Personal Development Training Phase Two) Aim: The programme is to encourage participants to use the skills already learned on phase one whilst also encouraging participants to develop new skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for entry into further education /training and/or the workplace. Modules: Career Planning (Personal profile, Personal Skills Audit, Transferrable skills) (FETAC Level 3) CV Preparation Job Search/ Further educational options Computers Interview Skills /Interview Portfolio Programme is 8 weeks (1 morning for 3 hours). WLP will provide venue. Quotation to include FETAC certification. Programme will engage with 12 participants. Introduction to Hospitality & Catering Aim: A competency based catering course certified by FETAC. Included are job specific skills. Work experience is a significant element of the course. The course is designed to give students the skills and work behaviours needed to obtain and retain employment in the hotel, catering and tourism sector. Modules Customer Service (FETAC Level 4 Component Certificate) Career Planning (FETAC Level 4 Component Certificate) Frontline Skills (non accredited) Entry level Bar Skills Entry level Hotel/Reception Skills Entry Level Restaurant Skills Participants will engage on a suitable work placement (3 hours per week for 6 weeks). Trainer will supervise/monitor placement. Programme is 12 weeks (Two mornings for 3 hours). WLP will provide venue. Quotation to include FETAC certification. Programme will engage with 12-15 participants. Introduction to Office Skills Aim: This course will give learners the skills and confidence needed to work in any office setting. To gain experience using some of the most popular software packages available as well as developing essential typing skills and learning how to use office equipment. Modules Communications (FETAC Level 4 Component Certificate) Computers to include the following; Touch typing MS packages (Word, Excel, Internet & Email) (non accredited) Telephone/Reception Techniques (to include use of standard office equipment, using a telephone system effectively, adopting a good telephone manner, meet & greet skills, professional appearance, dealing with public) Participants will engage on a suitable work placement (3 hours per week for 6 weeks). Trainer will supervise/monitor placement. Programme is 12 weeks (Two mornings for 3 hours). WLP will provide venue. Quotation to include FETAC certification. Programme will engage with 12-15 participants. Health & Safety at Work Occupational First Aid (FETAC Level 5) Manual Handling (Certified) Fire Safety Training (Relevant training certificate) Training will be 4 full days. WLP will provide venue. Quotation to include FETAC Certificate for OFA and relevant certificates for MH and Fire Safety Training. Programme will engage with 10 participants. Introduction to Advocacy & Leadership Training Waterford LEADER Partnership is inviting tenders from training providers with experience of working with marginalized groups, to develop and deliver an introductory Advocacy & Leadership Training Programme. The Advocacy & Leadership Training course aims to support Travellers, people with disabilities, older people, new communities, individuals from the LGBT community and other marginalized groups to actively represent themselves and to participate more fully in Irish life. Course Content This programme will give participants a thorough understanding of how to influence the policy making process in their own context to achieve policy change. By the end of the programme participants will: • Have a common understanding of what advocacy is and the different approaches to advocacy and its boundaries. • Be familiar with the stages of the advocacy planning cycle and be better equipped to build an advocacy strategy, including developing key messages and objective setting. • Have explored the different advocacy tools/activities. • Have considered how to monitor and evaluate advocacy initiatives. • Develop effective participation and representation skills. • Develop effective committee skills. • Understand the major State institutions in Ireland - education, legal and political • Identify sources of funding and complete funding applications • Understand the workings of the media in Ireland At the end of the course, participants should feel confident that they can effectively engage with state service providers, that they can articulate their concerns as individuals and as communities at local and national level and, that they have a fuller understanding of economic, social, political and cultural life in Ireland.
