Watkins Mill HS Named in Top 10 in MCPS for Volunteer Programs! Congratulations to the Watkins Mill community for winning the 2012-13 Outstanding Volunteer Program Award in MCPS! Watkins Mill HS is one of only 10 schools in MCPS to be recognized with this honor. This is being awarded on the shoulders of the hardworking parents and community members in out PTSA and Booster Club, who logged over 8,300 volunteer hours last school year. This also acknowledges our collective effort to create a family-friendly school community that utilizes and values volunteers. The significant number of volunteer hours served indicates a school environment where staff, parents, and the community work together to make a difference for students. Principal Scott Murphy will receive the award from Dr. Joshua Starr, superintendent of schools, and Mr. Chris Barclay, President, Board of Education, at the Back to School Fair on August 24.
