Watson and I made our way to the recent opening of a Whole Foods - TopicsExpress

Watson and I made our way to the recent opening of a Whole Foods Market in Clearwater, FL this week and, despite previous exposure to this denizen of all things Organic, Vegetarian, Wholesome, and generally delicious at locations in Texas, Colorado, New York, Georgia, New Mexico and elsewhere, did not fully prepare the two of us for the maelstrom exhibited at this market by the attendant frenzied populace. With no less than 20 food and beverage purveyors attracting sample-seekers, aisles were as congested as the Queens Midtown Tunnel during a Climate Change March on the United Nations. And with Watsons predisposition for all things wholesome, I failed to locate the ammonia tablets needed for soon enough the good Dr. was swooning vertically and in need of a brief respite. While the layout and resulting pedestrian foot traffic pattern is highly questionable, particularly in the fresh Meat, Fish, and Produce sections upon entering to the left, the overall presentation and selections exceeded the expectations of nearly all shoppers (present company surely included). And perhaps one of the finer joys in this first floor recombinant Sears store is the Ready-to-Eat departments to the right side of the entrance for it is festooned with the resplendent cakes, breads, bakery, and cold salads, yet that is not enough. A hot soup bar with 24 Hot Soups, Broths, Stews, Bisques, and more. An hot International Foods section (Latin, Indian, Oriental) with Basmati, Brown, and Quinoa as choice bases to adorn. This observational study will not do the location justice yet one aspect observed where none has been present in ANY Whole Foods yet witnessed by this investigator is the Wine and Beer Bar at the back of the Market. Taps and Cruvinets by which to sit and nosh on the finest options present (oh, and there are many!) Be forewarned however that any entry into this newly christened region should be accompanied by a healthy portion of both patience and time. One will not leave these environs unscathed and yet you will certainly be a better person for it! This game is much more than afoot (its nearly an arm and a leg!)
