Way Forward for 70 PF MPs and the MCCs....Personal Opinion The dispute that has rocked Zambias ruling party is so worrying but there is always a solution to such problems. The biggest problem is that if you do not support Edgar Lungu, then you a member of the cartel and it seems that the number of cartel members has been growing from each day that passes. It now includes GBM, Miles Sampa, Maureen Mwanawasa, Bashi Nono and hundreds and hundreds others. At the same time, the Clique will do anything to hold on to power even if it means suspending Guy Scott as member of the PF, going to court to face and endless litigation that may see the PF not participate in the Presidential Bye Election slated for January 20, 2014. This action will however send the PF into an opposition, again, just 3 years of having been in power. The solution lies in the hearts of the the 70 MPs and MCCs. When people had disagreed with Dr. Kaunda and the leadership of UNIP, they left and formed the MMD that went on to win elections in 1991. When people had disagreed with Frederick Chiluba and Michael Satas Third Term Bid, they left the MMD and formed the FDD now under Edith Nawakwi and my comrade Antonio Mourinho Mwanza. The FDD was formidable opposition that won seats. When Anderson Mazoka had disagreed with Sata and Chiluba, he resigned and formed the UPND that almost won the 2001 election. When Sata had disagreed with FTJ, he resigned and formed the PF that won 2011 elections. The last few weeks, there have been major disagreements between 70 MPs, some MCCs over the candidate. The MPs wanted to adopt a candidate via the Central Committee and had banked that the owners of the party, the Sata family would back them. When they discovered Dr. Guy Svpt wanted to uphold the party constitution by going to the referendum, they threatened to shoot down the budget in Parliament that would entail dissolution of Parliament. Where they prepared to carry out this threat? No, it was cowardice that made them issue such a threat. They have made one threat after another including boycotting the General Conference and withholding financial contribution to the party. A dog always has a way of eating its vomit. There is no doubt that the Sata family still have influence in the PF, the party of late Micheal Sata. Now that they have discovered that 5 of the Sata family have applied to stand for the Presidency and calling for the general conference, the 70+ have now resolved to go to the General Conference and have accused Dr. Guy Scott of wanting to use shortcuts. They want Dr. Guy Scott suspended or expelled from the party. Is that true? Will Guy Scott and the cartel let go forgo seeking their constitutional right to go to court and seek an injunction? By the time the courts dispense this matter, will the PF be ready to participate in the January 20 election? The solution is for the 70+ to imitate late Micheal Sata, quit and form their party because their candidate is popular and they too are popular among Zambians to form the next government. Micheal showed how it is done and that is the honourable thing to do than send the entire PF into oblivion. Micheal Sata was never a coward, Anderson Mazoka was never a coward, Christone Tembo, Brig. Gen. Miyanda were never cowards. Dean Mungomba was never a coward. FTJ and Levy Mwanawasa were never cowards. Those who aspire to lead must never be cowards and must take a bold step that others did. God Bless our Democracy!
