Way to go, Lindsey! The Volunteer Center of Erie County has announced Lindsey Dillender as the August 2014 winner of the Youth for Excellent Service (YES!) Award. She was nominated by Clare Opfer, of Goodwill Industries, for her volunteer service with Goodwill Industries of Sandusky since 2010, where she works in day hab doing quality control. Dillender can often be found face painting at company events, taking pictures of workers and programs, and working at the Sandusky and Bellevue Goodwill stores. Dillender is a senior at Margaretta High School, where she is involved in marching band, NHS, swim team, Academic Challenge and FFA. She is also involved in 4H and often mentors kids in the “animal and me” show. She volunteers for Potter Village Children’s Home, where she organized a collection drive of over 200 pounds of towels. Dillender is active in church youth group and is the Jr. Fair Board president, along with being an instructor for CarTEENS, an alternate discipline program for teen driving offenses. In addition, Dillender has donated more than 13 inches of her hair to Locks of Love. Dillender is the daughter of Morrison and Lori Dillender. She plans to study music education at either Ashland University or Oberlin College in the future. As the August 2014 YES! Winner, Lindsey will receive a certificate and $50 Visa card.
