Way to go with your responses! Our answer to the trivia question yesterday was B. When horses choke, the obstruction is in their esophagus. This is much different than choking in humans, where we have something in our trachea and cant breathe. Horses can still breathe with a choke, despite sometimes having feed material come from their nostrils due to the obstruction and saliva backing up in their throat. Most of the time chokes are easily resolved, but some complications can arise from them including esophageal strictures and aspiration pneumonia.
