Wayne Rooney has hit back at former team mate Paul Scholes after the former England international criticised the forward. Scholes said last month that Rooney was “worn out” and that he may be past his peak. While Gary Lineker believes is a victim of his versatility and that England manager Roy Hodgson may have have to consider dropping him. But Rooney says he’s “not interested” in what people outside of the England set-up have to say. To be honest, Im not really interested in what anyone else has got to say. Im interested in what Roy Hodgson and the coaching staff here and the people around me say. People have their opinions but I dont agree with them. [Scholes has] been a team-mate but hes been away from the first team for a long time. Ive seen a lot of you [in the media] saying hes coached me and been around the team but he hasnt. Im not really going to react. Im not interested. Hes got his opinions so lets leave it at that. I dont listen to people outside of the set-up really so anyone can say what they want. I have got no interest in listening to them.
