Wayne Tornado. First I would like to say we are all so grateful - TopicsExpress

Wayne Tornado. First I would like to say we are all so grateful that no one was lost in the tornado Friday. It is very uplifting when the emergency warning systems work and people are saved by taking the right actions. It is sad when such damage happens in a community. If I were Merrick County Sheriff, at a time of tragedy like this, I would offer the services of one Deputy and all related equipment to the community in need, and if that offer was accepted, the resources our County could offer would be dispatched immediately. A tragedy, like the tornado in Wayne, stretches local emergency services to the limits, and sometimes beyond. Of course this would be pre-approved by those on the County Board, because the County funds would be used outside of our County. I would recommend to the current Sheriff these actions be taken. A current employee of the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office is a member of Telecommunicators Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) which is designed to respond to these types of tragedies, so the emergency personnel in the effected community can address their personal lose issues. As it stands now I can only state that our thoughts and prayers are with the community of Wayne and wish for a speedy and complete recovery.
