Waynes USA diary extract... 30th July 2013 Didnt sleep very well last night, and feeling pretty cranky today. All through the night all I could hear was the constant wailing of passing freight trains. Christ alone knows why they make such a bloody racket. Not impressed. Got to Niagara Falls this morning. The town itself is tacky in its purest form, existing with the sole intention of cashing in on the nearby natural beauty. It even had a haunted house attraction. Then we caught a glimps of the falls themselves, which were stunning. I wasnt prepared for how bloody massive theyd all be! I was now, suitably impressed. Had a picnic lunch in a nearby park before embarking on our Maid InThe Mist boat tour, which basically consists of cramming loads of tourists in a boat and witnessing the full impact of the falls. It added more laughs when we got drenched. After this, Kristie, grace and myself opted to go on the Hurricane Deck; a series of platforms which straddle a clump of rocks just under the falls themselves. As such, we were able to experience what getting slapped in the face by a typhoon feels like. At one point I attempted to pose for a photo with my back to the falls; it was like being shot by a million paintballs. Great fun though! Got to out new KOA campsite and everyone chilled out. Me? I did laundry. Im so badass. This evening we cooked spag bol, chopped wood and had us a roaring campfire (marshmallows again... Awesome).
