We ALL need to understand what our police officers are up against everyday. We should be staging protests defending the actions of our police protectors, instead of defending a young man who was not taught to obey the law and respect authority. Parents need to take responsibility for the behavior of their children and stop blaming the rest of the world when something predictable and tragic happens. If this had been my son in Ferguson, I would be devastated with grief. But I would also realize that I failed to adequately teach him that he must obey the law and not act disrespectful or threatening to the police because he would be (rightfully) be considered a potentially dangerous criminal and at risk for being treated as such.
