We Are K38 Esteemed colleagues, We have passed 26 years of professional development and successful rescues worldwide! I have been privileged to dedicate my life towards changing the culture of lifesaving worldwide. I have not done this alone. You are part of this formidable history. Together we have passed many trials and errors in proving the Rescue Water Craft platform. It has not been easy, it is hard work that continues. We witness the success of this driven dedication in every nation whom are now using Rescue Water Craft! I recall in the 1980’s the challenges faced to impress people about the value of a personal watercraft. In 2015, we need to work harder in our outreach to train boaters in these fundamental needs as our community grows. We have certified qualified operators for 3 decades. I have over 24, 000 hours of instruction as a certified boating safety instructor with incredible students. Training over 1,800 agencies worldwide, K38 has during this time used over 160 of our own Personal Water Craft in courses,(not including client owned boats or international affiliates), rotating them on average every 6 months. This is a powerful institution of knowledge and experience, it is woven in with yours. The founding father; Mr. Brad Southworth who created the rescue platform using a Jet Ski in the 1970’s understands this well. He performed the first rescue ever of a man who was drowning in the surf. Many have come after him. It is important for you to know your history; the living legacy and the founding fathers, those who sacrificed to make it easier for you today. We pay our respects. Spiritually there is no greater satisfaction than knowing together we helped our fellow humans regardless of religious, political, or cultural boundaries. Together we have crossed all borders and speak the same language of water safety through standardization as the best methods and practices available. You professionalism in the field has minimized the associated risks of placing your life on the line so that others may live another day. Every life matters, especially yours; continue to train effectively. We are a united community, a proud and honorable community of professionals who have committed themselves to excellence within our trade. All of us at K38 want you to know how valuable you are. K38 has a strong brand name worldwide, it is because of you; our students. We are not right or wrong, we are determined. You want to be the very best at operations. We recognize this. We train elite operators by choice, our clients are selected by ability and character. One strong K38 qualified operator does the work of fifty. This is not easy, it is sacrifice, and our students earn their certification. You are one of the few chosen, we appreciate you. K38 is also honored to enjoy the distinct lineage of working with global accredited boating safety organizations in developing the origin of professional operations for our global RWC community. This will strengthen in 2015. We are boaters first, ‘we know who we are’. We understand that each of us are responsible stewards of the public trust. It is not about our ego or selfish pride, it is about pride in service and dedication. We appreciate our student cadre who understands these partnership values of standardization based on the most current methods and skills. We respect our equipment, we honor those we save lives by placing our heart in soul in everything we do, we recognize the effort given. Our K38 community has changed the culture of lifesaving, you have made a significant difference. You contribute in a way that is unique to fidelity and service towards others. The proof is in the success of your technical ability, your dedication to try harder, to give more, to produce better results and to hold the line. I expect nothing less from you, but more. K38, our affiliates, our instructors, we each thank you personally for the service you provide to those in peril. It is no small thing to dedicate yourself to a global movement. Change is not easily embraced because of fear and comfort; you are courageous. You are bold leaders and standard bearers, you are the example. Lead well my friends. Be humble of your contributions, and remain proud of your example. People are watching you. Your words, your ways, your deeds, and your actions matter. Give more than your very best; we can do better, and we shall. Give yourself permission. We at K38 International appreciate your respect, professionalism and dedication. You are changing the world, we recognize this, we want you to know that we appreciate you. I am not one for giving out praise, however the community is growing rapidly and becoming stronger and more diverse, the response of global rescues is noticeable. It is time for each of you to step forward as K38 partners, I expect to hear good works about your efforts this year. For this milestone we have reached together, I must thank every one of you, and salute my instructors for their dedication and steadfastness. You are committed to saving lives, this matters most. You make a difference, because you care. K38 students, you are not only the frontline of rescue, united you are a formidable positive force. In 2015, I ask each of you to strive further, to give more and to be ready at a moment’s call. The Life You Save May Be Your Own; choose your moment and come home safe. We are K38.
