We Malaysian are delighted to notice that the internal security department is determined to wipe out crimes in our Malaysian society and the police force has so far carried out stern action to deal with the criminals who are mostly gangsters. In order for the internal security department to fulfill its objective of wiping out crimes in order to make Malaysia another Singapore where people can walk around even in the middle of the night and in dark area and yet feel safe, I have the following suggestions:- Criminals are like ordinary people. They have to live, eat and sleep. As criminals, their normal habit will be slightly different than ordinary people and it can easily be noticed or catch the attention of those who stay near them. As such, if our government were to implement a phone alerting system whereby the public are advised to call an alerting general line in every state which has more than 200 numbers and are advised to be brief in their message giving, I believe the public will be obliged to take part by reporting to the police of any suspected criminals staying in their area. Police will then be able to plan their action before nabbing them. Again whether in public places, in recreational areas, in residential areas or in commercial areas, people are advised to call the alerting number to report whatever suspected illegal activities they witness in their area before it happens. Plain clothed policemen will immediately arrive at the area from two or three directions to standby for any unpleasant happening. To do so, there must be a well perceived plan implemented by the police so that swift action can be carried out as and when messages are received. Policemen of course will have good exercise every day. It is good for the policemen to carry out their duties and have exercise at the same time just like it is good for athletes to take part in sport competitions while enjoying them as their hobbies. If this can be made part of Malaysian civic culture with full co-operation between the public and the police, I have full confidence to say that Malaysia can equally be made another safe and secured place for all which every Malaysia including our police will be greatly proud of. I think this is feasible because firstly with the help of the GPS system, the police can easily locate the location of the informer which make action to be carried out, faster and secondly, with the confinement of the road structures, it will make the criminal’s escape greatly impeded or hampered.
