We The People petitions carry about as much weight as wet toilet - TopicsExpress

We The People petitions carry about as much weight as wet toilet paper. I get it. Give people a voice. But thats not power. If voices mattered new gun legislation wouldve passed after Newtown. You can vote, once every two or four years, but what of the moments in between when people are being disenfranchised, abused, cheated, and killed. Wait for the next election cycle and try to stay angry and motivated long enough to mobilize. What Im wondering is what avenues can be taken outside of these corrupted systems to disrupt their function and force some sort of correction? Meaning, can you file a federal lawsuit against the police? Force them to answer for their tactics, abuse, corruption and crimes? Something like that. Big and unwieldy. A thing that must be dealt with. I mean shit, if Republicans can sue the President, why cant we sue the police. NYPD first. LAPD next. Then work towards the middle. I love comedy but right now I wish I was a lawyer. Everyday I see another recording of police abusing peoples rights and the public trust. Theres a riot going on. But this time the agitators have badges. And a significant show of force is necessary to separate those who are honoring their charge to serve and protect us from that criminal element coloring the reputation and the efforts of the larger force with their violent and reprehensible behavior. Except they dont bust windows and take televisions. They bust heads and take lives.
