We accomplished quite a bit at my last full City Council meeting - TopicsExpress

We accomplished quite a bit at my last full City Council meeting last night. Some highlights are as follows: -Approved the partnership with Eden Housing to construct housing for veterans at the former Crown Chevrolet site -Accelerated the process and went out to bid on the next phase of Fallon Sports Park to include 2 additional turf soccer fields and a lighted 90 foot baseball diamond, along with other amenities to create one of the nicest sports parks in Northern California -Approved plans to create a 21st Century Learning Center at the Dublin Library with an emphasis on hands-on science and technology -Approved nearly $1 million in economic development investments to create free Wi-Fi, more special events, a business improvement district, and pedestrian-oriented infrastructure enhancements in our downtown We also learned that through the first quarter of the current fiscal year we have already generated nearly a $4 million surplus above what was anticipated, which will allow us to pay off our long-term Fire OPEB liabilities much earlier than expected. Im still looking forward to approving the Camp Parks History Center in my final vote as Mayor in my last meeting on December 2nd. Combined with the fact that we went to bid recently on the Emerald Glen Aquatics Center and just closed the books on the last fiscal year with a $13 million surplus, it feels good to finish strong in my final weeks as Mayor before being termed out.
