We actually recently did our first-ever corporate gig. We guest edited the publication SHEET for Urban Outfitters. Doing something with a corporation is working with the devil and, like most corporations, UO has a pretty long list of legitimate grievances against it. In a situation like this, for me the question is how much can you extract in return. So we published this. We got in a paragraph from my Masters thesis and a page of cans of white fungus. There will be 50,000 copies of this publication all over the world so its really going raise the profile of White Fungus. My feeling is Id rather do corporate gigs than corporatise White Fungus. If we can extend our net and channel more people into our independent project thats a positive outcome. UO may stock White Fungus too. Barnes & Noble recently came on board. So were working it and will see what happens. I did an interview with a Green Party candidate last year on student radio who accused me of being a sell-out and refused to accept my facebook invitation. I thought it was ironic given that were independent and hes part of a mainstream political party. Its complicated terrain, but well do the best we can. I dont really think Ive compromised my political views or values in anyway.
