We adopted Pongo in 2005 as an 11 month old from the HSOP. He was found as a stray downtown and since the write-up on the website said he already came to his name, we kept it. We helped him across the Rainbow Bridge today. Ive gushed on my page. My main point in sharing here, though I know the members of THIS page know this already, is that shelter dogs are not defective. There is not something wrong with them. They are not incapable of integrating into your family. They are not less than purebred dogs or dogs you buy from a breeder. Pongo was a member of our family and my husbands right hand man. So many people loved him and he was a great dog (who thought he was a human...) Someones loss or irresponsibility back in 2005 was one of our very greatest gifts ever. Adopt. Your best friend might be waiting for you, too.
