We advocate to change unjust laws. Many of the reasons I fight so - TopicsExpress

We advocate to change unjust laws. Many of the reasons I fight so diligently here in Wisconsin is due to the fact that we have one of the worst incarceration rates in the World for African-American males and most of those arrests are for non-violent Cannabis offenders. While Dontre Hamilton, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, and Eric Garner did not deserve death, the main problem were seeing now is the ones that pulled the trigger, due to them being in the wrong profession and fear taking over rather than correct training and proper tactics, are being found justified in their actions. What we forget to factor into the equation is the responsibility that comes with a badge and a gun and the ease of obtaining these items. We need to conduct much more in depth psychological evaluations before just handing them out. While some of the officers involved have a history of aggression and mental heath questioning, even on record, they are facts overlooked and often rather that disciplinary action the officer will transfer and in rare occasions be fired. But then to only move and be rehired somewhere else. We need to hold these individuals accountable and set examples for the future wanna-be law enforcement officers and soldiers. Its not all about an easy future a cool uniform and the shiny badge and gun. We need to stop selling these as careers and education opportunity. We often complain about this same type of disciplinary action within the church with priests and pastors. They are found guilty of some level of pedophilia to be transferred to another parish rather than disciplined. The pattern seems to be not about the pain and suffering or even compassion for/of the victim but the reputation and dignity of said organization. Why are we not more up in arms and disgusted by these atrocities? Why do we continue to live our lives as if nothing is wrong and everything will work itself out. Why are we so willing to continue being happy and live our normal lives while these horrors continue to others? The same reason we let it continue in the form of war and terror in the middle-east. Because if we dont see the atrocities happening or hear the screams of the victims being murdered in the middle of the streets or strangled on the sidewalk or shot 14 times in a park, we dont care. Sad but true. Unless it happens to me or you or your friend or relative, we put on our blinders and continue to breathe easy... Heres to all the people protesting and bringing the awareness to the unjust policies and racial disparities breaking down our communities. And to the people complaining due to being inconvenienced over a shut down mall, restaurant, or highway. Just be glad you arent inconvenienced or stuck in traffic due to a loved ones funeral from an unnecessary and avoidable death.
