We all fear oblivion, and sometimes, if not most of the time, more - TopicsExpress

We all fear oblivion, and sometimes, if not most of the time, more than we fear death. We fear because we know someday, at some point, we would all be inevitably forgotten. Maybe thats why we struggle to become part of the societal hierarchy, to establish a name, and to have this name be permanently engraved in history. Maybe thats why we bask in fame, in temporary glory, in praises we think we are worthy of. We constantly try to gather an audience, a crowd that we think knows us well enough to never forget our story. We strive to become a modern version of Shakespeare, whose legacy extends to the many generations that follow his own. But even his story strives to enter the present. And we can only hope for so much to happen the same to us. So I ask. Of the different crowds we have gathered, of the hundreds and thousands who know our name, have we, amidst our own selfish struggles, ACTUALLY TOUCHED THE LIVES of any one of them? Have we, despite the inevitability of human oblivion, tried even the slightest to make ourselves worthy to be part of anothers memories?
