We all gonna leave our physical human bodies at sometime or another... And from what i choose to believe about the spirit realm there is nothing to be sad about...the saying goodbye part is the part that sucks. The lifespan is relatively short in comparison to the grandness of the universe so once the physical part of our existence finishes we become full spirits not limited to the human body anymore and we will re unite with all who have already crossed into the spirit realm and also, it is my belief, that if you are grounded enough, you may be able to feel the energy of the spirits around you because they can choose to be anywhere they wish to be and,if the love was strong, they would definately choose to be around their living loved ones...just a little thought to make death not seem so tragic...
