We all have been hurt in the past and sometimes the betrayal has wounded us so deeply that we are unable to let go. I know this pain all to well and I also know how hard it can be to forgive the one who has caused such deep wounds. I had to really get into my Word and seek guidance from God and spent many hours on my knees weeping for Gods mercy because honestly I didnt want to forgive that person. By letting the Word into my heart God began to change me. My unforgiveness wasnt hurting the offender it was hurting me and ruining my relationship with others and with God. Bitterness keeps a very detailed record of all wrongs where as love keep no such record. Bitterness is like cancer eating our heart and our soul. Its like grabbing unto broken glass and squeezing, who is the one in pain, who is the one bleeding.... its you, your the one hurting not the one who did wrong. Chances are the offender is out living his or her life as if nothing had happened enjoying life as they would perceive it as a good life. Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; If we are unable to forgive then how would you expect God to forgive us. We NEED His forgiveness as we are human and far from perfect. Why is that we are so quick to latch on the grace and mercy of God when we need it but fail to give unto others what God so freely gave to us. Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. We need to forgive and pray for those who have hurt us and NOT against them, no matter how difficult and painful it maybe we need to pray for them, difficult and painful? Yes!! We need to pray as Jesus prayed. While our King was hanging on the cross, His hands and feet nailed, and a crown of thorns embedded upon His perfect head, as His redeeming blood poured from His body onto the ground, He said Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do ( Luke 23:34 ) Often times we dont want to forgive or just dont feel like it, because the pain is to great. I was told sometimes it takes the right actions to produce the right feeling. In other words we really need to take a leap of faith and follow the example our Savior showed as they parted his raiments and cast lots. I can tell you in all honesty how hard it was to pray for someone who had caused not only me but my children great pain, but I kept praying! At first it was just a simple two worded prayer and with no sincerity in my heart, but the more I prayed and forgave that person the more my heart began to soften and the more I felt Gods presence. Soon my prayer was from my heart..... BREAK those chains that are holding you to your past and march forward in the direction that God is calling you to. Gods forgiveness is instantly - completely - continuously.... I know I will fail Him many times and will need His grace and mercy. Its time to begin anew in Him and strive to be more Christ like not only with our speech but with our actions as well. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. If you dont wish to listen to my words then listen to the Words of Christ as He spoke the parable of the master and his servant: Matthew 18:25-35 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Be Blessed My Friends
