We all have known that the Ledbetter bridge needed to be shut down way before it actually was. It just makes me sick to my stomach that they waited till the last minute to replace it. I am trying not to complain because thank God that that the new bridge is finished and this did not happen while it was still open to traffic. The one thing that does really piss me off though is, they were still letting river traffic to pass through. I am not sure the date that they stopped allowing tow boats and such to pass under. Does anyone know if there was a such date? It is just insane that it has only been a year that my parents and friends crossed this bridge daily and my husband and his fellow co workers traveled underneath. It makes me wonder if the new bridge did not get finished when it did how much sooner would it had collapsed? Just curious. Also I dont quite understand when it was closed why didnt they start the demolition process the following day? Last I want recognize Mark D. McCoy of the great pictures he provided so we could see of the progression of the Ledbetter Bridge Collapsing. On a lighter note the pics with the crows are priceless, it added a little humor to the situation.
