We all have to work and make a living for our families that is understood, so we will put that aside, also Jesus is not talking about our physical life. We must keep in mind Matthew 16:26 as we look at Matthew 16:25 first. Jesus is not impressed with whatever kind of life we build for ourselves, when they do not include Him. Because after all He owns everything any way. He knows that all the status, or possessions, or wealth we obtain is temporary. That is why He tells us in Matthew 6:33 seek ye first the kingdom of God, also in Matthew 6:20 He tells us to lay up our treasures in heaven. There is nothing wrong with having these things if we stay thankful to Him for giving us all our blessings and put Him first before all of them. We can clearly see we are far better off placing our values and self worth in Jesus. Otherwise when we stand before Him at the judgement we will just be another poor, broke sinner.
