We all know about the platinum strikes in Rustenburg that started - TopicsExpress

We all know about the platinum strikes in Rustenburg that started on 23 Jan 2014... Its now 4 months down the line and no end in sight. What we dont know, is how many families have been devastated by these strikes. Sympathy for the families of striking miners is obviously debatable, but unfortunately it has affected contractors, suppliers and local businesses as well - to the point where some businesses have had to close their doors and many houses now have multiple families under one roof, trying to scrape together a living (through no fault of their own). There are numerous outreach initiatives, soup kitchens and charities involved, but little is being said about the welfare of the local animals. Willie Willie Andries Strydom and his committee have arranged for donations for the affected families to be transported to one of the charities in Rustenburg on Monday 23 June, who will then regulate distribution to the families who need it most. He has asked whether we could get on board to assist with donations of dog/cat food for the pets of these families. These animals are in dire straits and really need our help. Please email me on isellecombrink@hotmail if you are able to assist with a donation of dog/cat food (pellets or tins)... Im in the Alberton/Mulbarton area and can arrange for a central drop-off point. All donations are welcome and will be transported to Rustenburg on Monday 23 June - each little bit will go a long way to make a big difference:)
