We all know by now when the mayor is out to get you in Waterbury - TopicsExpress

We all know by now when the mayor is out to get you in Waterbury he will go to any extreme to prove he is in control of everything. Erik Brown who was hired under Dr. David Snead to lead Walsh Grammar School which was one of the poorest performing schools in the entire district. At the time Waterburys school had no Black principals and hardly any black teachers for a system as large as is, due to the rampart nepotism is was known for. In the the early 2000s under the Giordano administration the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities did an investigation of the schools hiring practices and found numerous issues and made recommendations for the city to improve its hiring process. Of course, since then remained a rocky road for the city to follow so the hiring practices improved very little if at all. In this letter below after temporary withdrawing my long support for Eric Brown I became outraged at the Mayors open hostility toward Brown and after last Fridays decision by the school boards grievance committee that was argued effectively by the SAW Union lawyer a few weeks ago I was convinced that Brown was being further victimized and it was all conspired by those from the Republican and the Mayor to again stop a fair process from vindicating Brown. The strange thing about the 3 to 2 vote taken by the committee was that the newspaper failed to mention where 2 of the 5 votes came from. The lone republican Thomas Van Stone Sr. who supported denying the grievance according to the Waterbury Republican, said Brown wasnt ready to be a school principal. Were not in the business of training principals on the job, Van Stone said. He noted that Brown had never served as vice principal when he took the helm of Walsh. Thats not say he isnt a future principal. Who is this man he just got elected to the board in the November of 2013.
