We all know that gold is precious because of its qualities so much that it is secured in safes, with security apparatus and gunmen around, used as a standard backup for currency, blah blah and even go as far as invading/attacking others for it. The origins of gold are interstellar and cosmic but largely mysterious/speculative as yet. If gold got its value because of these physical qualities and mysterious origins, then how much more valuable should be life, animals and human beings on the earth, whose physical make up, qualities, intelligence are nothing short of a wonder, whose origins on our planet are equally mysterious if not even more fascinating as far as we know it. We are wasting away invaluable human potential by the billions using abuse, coercion, fictional debt banking, exploitation, killing as if it means nothing and safely hiding away precious metals. In the past people had no idea how life originated, and they used to stone to death or excluded from the group, those who defied/questioned existing values, norms and culture. We thus, have a great problem of identifying which one is more valuable, a miraculous complex life system embodied as you and me or is it a piece of metal lying there in reinforced concrete boxes. It reminds me of Carl Sagans quote - In our vast universe, where extinction is the rule, life is the exception. We then, create banks where exceptional life forms as human lives are used to store, maintain and exchange lifeless gold for everything else. Einstein was right. Stupidity knows no limits.
