We all know that our babies were abused by being taken from us, their real, rightful, natural mothers... but in truth, WE were also abused. It was child abuse of us because we were minors (i.e., legally children). This is NOT to say that we were too young to parent. We all know that we would have done just fine with a little support for a short time. Many of us grew up babysitting our own siblings. I know I did and babysitting A LOT for neighbors, too. Many minors in the past got married and had babies when they were still in high school and no one batted an eye. It was just the way it was back then. The taking of our babies from us was NOT okay. It was NOT saving a baby. It was CHILD ABUSE of us and of them. It was Domestic Abuse. It was Reproductive Exploitation. It was Social Engineering. It was also Eugenics. These were crimes by WHITE social adoption workers against WHITE unmarried mothers in order to legally steal our WHITE babies for the WHITE market (potential WHITE adopters) Eugenics in this country was very active before the Baby Scoop Era (post WWII through 1972)... it was also still alive, but operating under the radar, after that time even up until the mid-1970s. I will post an article in my local newspaper today that illustrates this.
