We all know this is an issue. If pharmacists know these - TopicsExpress

We all know this is an issue. If pharmacists know these prescribers might be a problem, why does it take so long for these investigations and for licenses to be surrendered? Is it the AMA? Is it lack of policing? Is it jurisdiction? How about a known prescriber moving across state lines (relocated his office about 2 miles) to avoid issues in the first state? Changing the classification of a medication will not stop its abuse. If you want to keep these medications in the right hands, you have to go to the source: The Prescribers. There needs to be more oversight and a greater crackdown on them. Bad prescribers write bad prescriptions for bad patients. This does not help legitimate patients fill legitimate prescriptions. The problem is the DEA and everyone else are looking at the wrong side of the equation.
