We are Down To The Wire, and we desperately need your HELP! On Saturday, January 24, 2015, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) will host the 24th Annual Homeless Veteran Stand-Down/Winter Haven , and partner with the HUD Veterans Affinity Group (VAG) in hosting the 4th Annual Walk In Their Foot Steps Homeless Veteran New All-Weather Boot/Shoe Collection at: 50 Irving Street, N.W., Washington, D.C., 9:00am - 2:00pm, to benefit our Homeless veterans. This years goal was to collect 1500 pairs of New Boots/Shoes for those who have given much of themselves. Regretfully, we have only received 300 pairs of New Boots/Shoes. Each year we have to turn away veterans who are in desperate need of All-Weather Winter Boots/Shoes. But there is Hope! You still have an opportunity to donate a pair of all-weather winter boots and/or shoes to our Homeless Veterans. We will continue our collection efforts of all-weather new boots and shoes until this Friday, January 23. Stand Down/Winter Haven is on Saturday, January 24, 2015. A pair of new all-weather boots/shoes can make a difference, and assist a homeless veteran, in obtaining employment, housing, and an array of social service, and economic, opportunities and have a lasting beneficial impact in eliminating homelessness among our veterans.
