We are IN the international development sector, but we choose not to be OF it. We can see why people have lost so much trust in intl dev. Its become a bunch of rhetoric without critical introspection about the systemic nature of poverty. Were NOT perfect either, but every day in our work, for every decision we make, we strive to address important issues e.g. power dynamics, localization, social capital, and what each of our roles are in this social movement. These ideas are entrenched in our core values and though its not necessarily the formula for tons of fundraising, in 2015, we will again move forward with these values.
