We are Vulnerable to Allow Satan to Break Down Trust in God by Teacher Maria vonAnderseck Every thought Satan sows within the mind, no matter what it is directed at, is meant to break down trust in God. That is the bottom line. Trust in God is strong as long as we are laboring in the Word to keep ourselves nourished and fed and reflecting for discernment in times of contradiction. The Spirit will affirm Christ as we measure our thoughts upon the scale of Christ. Taking time in the Word during the day, whether scripture memory, flash cards, doctrine, or partaking of the stewardship of the saints, allows the grace of God to continue to flow. As we labor with what the Spirit is teaching, the cleansing of the conscience continues to take place. Now you are washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:1) Trust in God is broken down when we allow the sowing of Satan’s perception to go unchallenged in the scenarios God creates for this breaking down to take place. Thoughts carry the sediments (prejudices) of many principles and aspirations, which continue to collect and color our perception, which is necessary for God to cleanse. To allow our thoughts to go unchallenged means that sediment is building up. Interesting about dams: “Because dams are built to store water, they also store the sediment that all rivers carry. This sediment builds and steadily decreases the storage capacity of the reservoir. Ultimately all dams fill with sediment or are destroyed by natural floods.” The saints often used to say, “I’m trusting God” and I’d ask them what they’re trusting God for. And it was generally associated with their current situation. If, for example, a person found themselves challenged daily when in heavy traffic and rude drivers seem to be forever pushing the right frustration/ anger buttons, they might have the idea that they need to trust God that they will get through this without getting frustrated or angry. And so, if “not being angry” was the goal then it became the measure. And when angry, rude drivers make you angry, you’ll feel as if you haven’t overcome or progressed. First of all, clarifying again, God isn’t giving anyone permission to allow iniquity to rule their emotions, but neither is He asking anyone to put their trust in Him shielding them from frustration or anger ever occurring. What are you trusting God to do? We’re not trusting God to get us through traffic without becoming angry (nor are we going to carelessly give ourselves over to anger). We’re trusting God to assist us in our reflections that we discern what is set before us that we accept the challenge (and opportunity for fruit bearing; whether we accept the history of man or the history of God) by asking Scale Questions to allow the Spirit to recommunicate His plan to us, that we might separate our thoughts to Him, delight ourselves in knowing Him. Learning to reflect is like learning how to swim. Your goal goes beyond not drowning. You’re gaining the skills you need to swim with confidence depending on your reasons for getting in the pool: Whether you’re swimming to build up distance endurance, or for exercise, enjoyment, or fitness, not drowning is something that will happen as swimming skills are learned, but it is no longer the center of your focus. Even so, in Christ, not becoming angry in retaliation or reciprocation to something you’ve observed and now feeling the need to respond to, is something that will happen as you learn to allow grace to be the master, but “not being angry” is no longer the center of your focus so it’s no longer the center of your reflections. Generating Scale Questions allows God to train you to perceive other goals to keep your focus on Christ. The enemy’s use of our vulnerability to build upon misconceptions to immobilize faith is countered by reflection (entering into the priesthood). As we enter into the priesthood by reflecting so also does the Spirit work with us to assist us to see what we were neglecting to see before, namely the face of Christ. As we pray in the Spirit and exercise our senses with truth, the Father is able to help our perception. We’re not seeking to overcome by our own will power or seeking to gain something for ourselves. Neither are we responding to any curiosity to look into ourselves to discover ourselves, but rather seeking to know God through the tokens of Christ. We’re vulnerable to follow the wrong traverse. We are gaining the Father’s insight and foresight, not neglecting to heed His voice. We are able to observe that which He is revealing, which we then labor to stand in to enter into rest, even as Apostle Paul wrote, “For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.” (2 Corinthians 7:11) To learn more about how to overcome the wiles of Satan go to...s8wministries.org/general.php?id=54 Links on this page to download the free lesson plan and power point presentation.
