We are absolutely delighted to announce that Hilary Alexander OBE will be introducing the Trench Coat exhibition at Winchester Discovery Centre later this year. Hilary is a fashion journalist and former fashion director at The Telegraph. Her incredible career has taken her around the globe, working with fashion’s most important designers, models and celebrities. Twice named British Fashion Journalist of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, she was awarded the title Visiting Professor by the University of the Arts and an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Design by Nottingham Trent University. In 2011 she was awarded the special Eugenia Sheppard Media Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Hilary received her OBE in 2013 for her services to fashion journalism. She is currently working as a consultant for Marks & Spencer for their Per Una line, as well as being a stylist for fashion shows for charity showcases Breast Cancer Care and Fashion for the Brave. She is additionally a trustee of Graduate Fashion Week and works closely with the British Fashion Council. You will no doubt be familiar with Hilary for her fashion expertise on television too; namely BBC 2s Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, and documentaries for Channel 4, as well as for international broadcasters like NBC. There is no better person to set the scene for our special exhibition. We are thrilled to have her involved.
