We are all overwhelmed with the support that has been given to Nadia. Thank you all so very much. Your generosity has allowed us to be able to give her the care she needs without having to worry about how well pay for it. Nadia went to the vet yesterday. She appears to be in surprisingly good health, given the poor nutrition and living conditions shes faced. Her teeth are in great shape, which was very good news for us because it means she can start gaining weight and getting healthier from having a proper diet. Unfortunately, her feet are in awful condition. She has severe bumblefoot on all four feet. Three of her feet are infected all the way to the bone. Infections like these are very difficult to cure, but we are going to give it our best try. She is on antibiotics twice a day, oral pain medication, and injectable pain medication to be given before her feet are cleaned, soaked, and bandaged every day. We will be switching her bedding from fleece to CareFresh every few days to give her feet a variety of different surfaces to walk on to help relieve the pressure sores she has. As we get to know her personality, we see that she is a sweet piggy but is definitely a fighter. She comes to the edge of her cage seeking attention. But, she is not afraid to tell us that she DOES. NOT. LIKE. BATHS. However, she does like Vitamin C tablets, tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, spring mix lettuces, and pretty much any other food that we put in her enclosure.
