We are almost into our second week of 2015. Happy New Year to each and every one of you!!! We wrapped up our fundraiser at BS&G on January 2nd. In total, our silent auction and Casual for a Cause Jeans on Fridays, raised $2,590.00. Even now, I dont have the words to express my gratitude for the financial support, as well as the confidence I feel these people have in us and what we are trying to accomplish. I am truly overwhelmed. Their generosity well exceeded my expectations!! But, as repetitive as it may sound, and Im going to say it a LOT, we have just begun. Our goal is ambitious but it is worthwhile. Focusing on steps forward means that I have to relive the past -- many times. And thats hard. However, I am willing to go through it, To sit here and do nothing seems disrespectful to her, and I can live with the grief, but I cant live with anything short of honoring her memory and continuing her fight. For her, for my family, and for all the kids and other families to come. We reach for answers for them, because the answers werent there for us. Please continue to follow us, share us and support us in 2015. Our mission is to educate the public and for that, we need you to help us connect with people. Our mission is to MOTIVATE the public. Yes, DIPG is rare and yes, the odds are in your favor that you wont know anyone affected by it, right? Well, you know me, or you know someone in my family. The odds were in our favor, too, until they werent. We need and continue to strive to raise money to forward research. So little progress has been made in over twenty years. That is just not acceptable. This is the 21st century. These kids should have a better prognosis. You ARE Candaces Cause, right beside us, and we think we can change those statistics. Events are coming down the pipeline, so watch for those, and we hope to see you there! And as always, maybe you gave up Starbucks or chocolate as a New Years resolution and you have an extra dollar or two, or maybe youve decided THIS is the year youre going to do something that really matters, feel free to donate to Candace’s Cause.
