We are an amateur squash league for 30+ club level players in Gurgaon. The idea is to have fun, get fitter, play more regularly (while we can!), and meet fellow squashers around Gurgaon. Players can join the league by write to [email protected] with their full name, age, address, and name of the club/community where they play. Following are the rules of engagement: 1. Duration: August-April every year (we can play whenever but this duration is for the ladder games given that most of us will be off during vacations for large parts...hopefully!). 2. Rules: Best-of-3 games of 9-point games. At 8-8, a game automatically goes to 10. 3. Playing: a. Use double-dots except during Nov-Feb, where you can opt for a single dot. b. Be kind with let-calls but also be gracious with strokes! 4. Rules of Challenge Matched for Rank: a. You can challenge a player ranked upto 3 spots above you (this will change once we start getting more players to upto 2 spots). For example, if you are ranked 6 then you can challenge number 5, 4, and 3. b. If you win against a higher ranked player then you move above that player on the ladder. c. You can challenge a particular higher ranked player no more than once every 30 days for their ladder spot. This is primarily to avoid repeating players in short bursts. d. If you beat a player ranked above you, then, if challenged by that player, you must play him within 10-days. e. Once challenged for a game between August-April by a lesser ranked player, you must play the match within 10-days else you must forfeit the match and your rank.The 10-day rule stays irrespective of personal vacations, sickness, or work related travel because...the show must go on (if you loose a rank due to travel or unavailability or injury during the Aug-April time frame then the best way to regain it is to challenge and win once you get back!). 5. Hosting others: Many of us will face restrictions when inviting players to our clubs/communities. a. Please ensure that you (the host) get the necessary permission for guests to play without hassles. The onus on hosting lies solely with the host. b. Once you host a player at your location, the next match with the same player must be played on his location. 6. Records: (a) all current ladder rankings and match records will be emailed to all members every 15 days. (b) All scores need to be emailed by the winner to [email protected] within 48-hours post the match. 7. Fun: Please note that the intent of the ladder is to meet like-minded people and do what we all love to do - hit a squash ball! To that end, have fun and enjoy playing some organized squash. Though the league is informal, INME will hopefully give support to us from time to time with mementos, t-shirts etc. 8. Knock Out Tournament: Much like the IPL, we will complement the league by having an annual knockout tournament based on the ranking in April every year. This years dates will be Friday, April 11 to Sunday, April 27, 2014. Have Fun & Happy Squashing!
