We are being browbeaten over this vote with the demagoguery that its for the children and those speaking out in opposition are being called names, harassed publicly and privately, having their property damaged or stolen, and being told they must hate children. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 1 of every 3 children in District Five lives in poverty. Have you considered how the inflated cost of living due to a $71 million tax increase will affect them? The emotion-driven for the children argument avoids the fact that rental properties are taxed at a 6% levy and businesses at a 10.5% levy while homeowner-occupied properties are taxed at a 4% levy. Do they not realize that these taxes will be passed on to the renter and consumer in higher rent and food costs, therefore having the heaviest impact on the poorest in our community? Or do they agree with the member of the School Board whos answer when I asked this question the other day was, Someone has to pay the price for progress. #InformYourself #DontFollowBlindly #VoteNo
