We are dedicating this years Letterpress Appreciation Day to Glenn - TopicsExpress

We are dedicating this years Letterpress Appreciation Day to Glenn House, Sr. He designed the famous Moon Winx sign in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (thats his profile in the man in the moon) and he taught me how to print on an iron handpress, just as I will teach you how to print on an iron handpress at Thursdays open house. One of the great things about humanity is we take what we know and we pass it on. Glenn House left this world on Sunday. He was a good guy. He liked to say yes where others said no, and this is something I try to emulate, too. The day we printed at the iron handpress at the University of Alabama, we printed an old poem, old song, and it went like this: William Matrimmatoe Hes a good fisherman. He catches hens, Puts them in pens. Some lay eggs. Some lay none. William Matrimmatoe Hes a good fisherman. Wire, briar, limber, lock. Three geese in a flock. One flew east. One flew west. One flew over the cuckoos nest. Wire, briar, limber, lock. Out goes you, old dirty dish rag, you. Heres to Glenn. Come learn what I learnt from him at JCBAs Letterpress Appreciation Day Open House this Thursday from Noon to 6. Drop by anytime. Its an honor to share what I know with you.
