We are delighted to announce our 2nd judge for National Second Wind Dreams Appreciation Day: P.K. Beville! P.K. Beville is the founder of Second Wind Dreams® and the author & inventor of the Virtual Dementia Tour®. Launched in 1997, SWD is changing the perception of aging by fulfilling the dreams of those living in elder care communities, thereby enhancing their lives and changing society’s perception of older Americans. A geriatric specialist and national speaker, Beville began working with elders in 1983. She has designed and implemented mental health services programs, which are currently used in over 800 nursing homes throughout the United States. Beville is well known as a seminar leader and keynote speaker in the field of geriatrics. The recipient of local, state and national awards she has been recognized as Outstanding Southerner of the Year by Southern Living magazine; a recipient of the WXIA 11Alive Community Service Award; a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from LeadingAge Georgia; a recipient of the TBS Pathfinder Award for Volunteer Pioneers; a recipient of Harlequin’s More Than Words Award; and a recipient of the L’Oreal Paris Woman of Worth Award. She is fearlessly changing the perception of aging and we are proud to work alongside this brilliant activist!
